Tehachapi windmill farmTehachapi produces more wind generated energy than anyplace in the world. There are several locations to get a great view of the windmills; in fact they are pretty hard to miss. Hiking will provide you with a closer view via the Pacific Crest Trail; however great views can be seen just by taking a drive along Willow Springs Road from Rosamond to Tehachapi.

How to get there:

  • Driving: Take Rosamond Blvd. to Willow Springs Road and make a right. Follow Tehachapi Willow Springs Road (90th Street West) all the way through until you come to Tehachapi. Tehachapi Willow Springs Rd will intersect Hwy 58 in Tehachapi.
  • Hiking: To find the trail from Hwy 58, take Cameron Rd North 5 mi to the intersection of Tehachapi-Willow Springs Rd and Oak Creek Rd. You can park your vehicle in the parking area on the South side of Tehachapi-Willow Springs Rd. The trail is marked and easily visible from there.

What to bring:

  • A jacket is recommended
  • Comfortable shoes/or hiking boots
  • Water (2 quarts per person recommended) and snacks or a lunch

You should know:

  • Weather can be unpredictable.
  • If you plan on hiking: park only in designated parking areas.
  • Much of the area around the Pacific Crest Trail is private property, so always stay on the trail.
