Desert Trash Dumping. When Is Enough, Enough?Posted by Desiree Santiago in trash , garbage , dumping , Antelope Valley |
On my way out to Las Vegas a month ago, I managed to get lost way out on the very Easternmost edge of Palmdale (I blame my GPS for telling me there were roads in places that weren't actually there) and in my effort to make my way back to a paved road I was absolutely sickened by the amount of garbage that is just dumped in the desert. Among the things I saw were, couches, roofing shingles and tar, several broken porcelin bathroom fixtures, kids toys, a pile of car batteries and perhaps the most shocking was a rotting horse carcass!
I called the city dump line and because I didn't quite know exactly where I was at the time, no one was able to assist. (My fault for not making note of the roads on the GPS) I assume the people that answer that dump line are overwhelmed with all of the dump sites around the Antelope Valley. Since then, I have become more aware of the garbage I see all over this valley and it's just sickening.
