IF..? You Are Opposed To Palmdale's Fireworks Sales...

You should go to the City of Palmdale's web site and read the long list of "Charities" that sell them and profit from burning small children and the destruction of homes and property and BOYCOTT them the rest of the year.

United flights out of Palmdale to double

Posted by Business Suit in Palmdaleairport

Business Suit

Being a business owner myself and frequent flier, I am happy to see that United is not giving up on its flights out of Palmdale. Unfortunately the airline will still only fly to San Francisco, but they will be increasing the frequency in which they fly from two times to four times daily. The change will take place on September 3rd this year.

I have yet to fly from Palmdale, but may now consider the possibility of flying up to San Francisco and connecting with other flights from there. Burbank has been my airport of choice for years. I would love to see more destinations from Palmdale someday soon.

Palmdale / Lancaster Cell Phones for soldiers program

Donate your old working or non-working cell phone the the Cell Phones for Soldiers program. Each phone donated is recycled and the money earned is used to purchse per-paid calling cards for our troops to call family and loved ones back home with. Every cell phone donated purchases up to an hour of talk time.

We all probably have an old cell phone sitting around, collecting dust - now you can put it towards something useful and clean up a bit while you're at it ;)

There are two ways Antelpe Valley residents can donate old phones. You can print out a pre-addressed label  and mail it or you can drop it off at one of these local establishments:

The Legend of Palmdale's Bottomless Lake

The Palmdale Lake which is the home of the Fin and Feather Club sets on one side of Sierra Highway while the small little lake that never goes dry sets on the east side of Sierra Highway. This small lake is part of the San Andreas Fault and may be the reason the lake is said to be bottomless.

Are you leaving on Vacation? The sheriffs department can help keep your home safe

Many people aren't aware of a great, free service offered by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department. You can give them a call and they will send a volunteer officer or sheriff deputy by your home while you're away. They will check for anything suspicious like broken glass, open windows, open gates and other clues that may indicate a break-in.

Call the number corresponding to the city or sheriff station closest to you and request a Vacation security check.

New Afroman Palmdale Video

Posted by somechick in PalmdaleDrugs

I wrote about this sometime ago on my blog about meth. Why is this video relevant to a meth blog? Well, my readers may just be interested in reading about my old stomping grounds - Palmdale.

I can't help but laugh while watching this video. The beat is kind of catchy, but the funny parts are really related to the nasty looking women, the Palmdale indoor swapmeet shots (could they not get any place else to film?) and good ol' B-2 liquor on 35th Street East. Oh - many a drug deal has gone down around that place.

Anyhow - if anyone is interested, I thought I would share this little gem with the rest of you Palmdalians.

Mystery surrounding Palmdale's bottomless lake - Debunked!

Posted by MACdiva in PalmdaleHaunted

MACdiva

Amid rumors of dead men and whispers of untold depths lies Palmdale's "Bottomless Lake". Local's know it's there and yet many of us haven't the slightest idea how this strange body of water came to be on the east side of Sierra Highway, just south of Avenue S.

Local stories about this lake include those of people who were last seen swimming in the lake, strange lake monsters that emerge only to swallow large water foul, scuba teams that have "tried" to find the bottom, a place where shady characters go to dump their victims and according to the website Shdowlands Haunted Places - an online index of haunted places "{quotes}A Ghost of a fisherman has been reported to lash out, slurring viciously, ordering (people) to leave, also tales of black figures climbing into the trees and vanishing{/quotes}" have been spotted. Stories of this nature go back as far as the 1880's.

The truth about how this lake came to be is not as unusual as the rumors surrounding it, considering it's location. And for that we can thank the San Andreas fault.
