By now you have likely heard of the guy impersonating a cop in Palmdale to grope women, but if you haven't here is a story someone emailed me from the AV Press.

PALMDALE - Sheriff's deputies are searching for a man impersonating a police officer after a young woman reported being sexually assaulted early Sunday by a uniformed man driving a dark sedan.
The woman told sheriff's officials the man stopped her for a supposed traffic violation on Sierra Highway just north of Barrel Springs Road around 12:32 a.m., according to Deputy Robbie Royster.

Motorcross at the AV Fairgrounds is a major water waster

So here we are having a water crisis and each day when I come home from work I drive past the motorcross facility at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds and see them hosing down the dirt out there. I know that they need to do this to keep the dust down, but doesn't this seem like a waste of water?!

Here I have gone to extremes in my own home to keep myself and my kids from using too much water and it really pisses me off to see such a blatent waste of water.

Is there some other way that they could keep the dust down?

Idiotic red box DVD machines at the grocery store

Posted by MACdiva in rant

MACdiva

Have you seen these things? You rent a DVD for $1 for the day from a completely computerized machine found at the front of the grocery store. Pretty nifty, right? WRONG!

I admittedly used the red box machine a few times at my local Albertson's when it was brand new and thought it was swell.  Now that the machine has gotten a little more popular there is a line most times which blocks the entrance/exit. People are rude and decide to browse the full selection, read all the descriptions and talk on the cell phone while 5 people are waiting in line behind them.

I suppose the ploy is to get people to shop instead of wait around in line at the redbox dvd machine and heck I fell for that in teh beginning! I found myself buying crap I didn't need just to avoid the line - only problem is, I get done checking out to see that the line is even longer.

Kieffe and Sons radio commercial...

Posted by MACdiva in religion

MACdiva

I just so happen to be Christian, but I think this guy got his stats off. I think maybe 86% of people believe in "A God" not the same God that christians believe in. If 86% of the people believed in the christian God (the only God IMO) then missionaries wouldn't serve much purpose.

This commercial was being aired on the Quake, I guess. I didn't actually hear it, but it's on youtube for the world to bitch and complain about. I think it's a pretty ballsy move by old Kieffe and Sons. (Their commercials have always annoyed me)

Thank you for my freedom

Posted by MACdiva in thanks

MACdiva

Today is not just a day to relax and have a barbecue; today is a day we remember all of those that sacrificed and put their life on the line for this great country we are blessed to call home.

Today I remember that I am blessed to be able to see my children grow up free, where they are allowed to have an opinion, a religion; a home. I remember that the bickering over political agendas is really something we are lucky to be able to do. I remember that the Antelope Valley has its issues, but we enjoy luxuries here that millions will never know.

To those that have served or are serving our country I humbly say "thank you" and appreciate everything you have done to allow us to be free. To the families of those that have served or are serving in the military we gratefully give thanks for you, for your sacrifice should not go unnoticed.

This looks like it belongs to a medical facility. Why did they change the other one? Is this the new look of R. Rex's Lancaster?

Palmdale girl found dead in the desert

Am I the only one bothered by this?

I saw it briefly on the news the other night and can't help but wonder what in the hell is going on in the AV. The past two weeks I have noticed several news items on the main LA news stations; including a pitbull that was set on fire in lancaster, a boy that was stabbed at a party and now this. I couldn't stop thinking about this girl. Two days ago a friend called me that happens to know the girl's mother and went to church with the girl on occasion. Apparently she snuck out like many teenagers do and somehow wound up murdered.

I am so sick of reading and hearing about crime in the AV. I can't blame reporters for doing their job; I just wish crime wasn't the only thing we have to talk about.

Mystery surrounding Palmdale's bottomless lake - Debunked!

Posted by MACdiva in PalmdaleHaunted

MACdiva

Amid rumors of dead men and whispers of untold depths lies Palmdale's "Bottomless Lake". Local's know it's there and yet many of us haven't the slightest idea how this strange body of water came to be on the east side of Sierra Highway, just south of Avenue S.

Local stories about this lake include those of people who were last seen swimming in the lake, strange lake monsters that emerge only to swallow large water foul, scuba teams that have "tried" to find the bottom, a place where shady characters go to dump their victims and according to the website Shdowlands Haunted Places - an online index of haunted places "{quotes}A Ghost of a fisherman has been reported to lash out, slurring viciously, ordering (people) to leave, also tales of black figures climbing into the trees and vanishing{/quotes}" have been spotted. Stories of this nature go back as far as the 1880's.

The truth about how this lake came to be is not as unusual as the rumors surrounding it, considering it's location. And for that we can thank the San Andreas fault.
